Update: Slight Risks Blanket OK, KS, TX Plains Today After Enhanced OK/KS Outlook

Following our morning post on the severe thunderstorm warning in northwest Louisiana and Enhanced Risk over Oklahoma and Kansas, the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has updated its outlook. The setup features lingering instability and wind shear across the southern Plains, fueling a regional pattern of storm development today.

What a Slight Risk means: The SPC uses this lowest severe category to highlight areas where isolated severe thunderstorms could occur. This isn't widespread danger but spots where storms might pack a punch.

Potential hazards today (Tuesday, June 23): Isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail around golf ball size, and an outside chance of a brief tornado. Areas at Slight Risk include Oklahoma City and Moore, OK; Tulsa, OK; Wichita, KS; and Amarillo, TX.
