Clusters of thunderstorms lingering over northwest into west-central Ohio this morning are poised to ramp up as stronger daytime heating kicks in downstream. The Storm Prediction Center highlights a corridor of fewer clouds allowing MLCAPE to climb to 1500-2500+ J/kg by early to mid-afternoon, fueling intensification from central and eastern Ohio into western Pennsylvania and northwest West Virginia.

Primary Hazard: Damaging Wind Gusts

Westerly winds of 30-40 knots in the 1-5 km layer will support cold pool organization, driving the main risk of severe gusts at 55-70 mph. A brief tornado can't be ruled out—potentially up to 90 mph winds—but veered low-level winds should keep that threat limited.
