Legal Disclaimer
Please read this disclaimer carefully before using SevereWX.
In an emergency: Call 911. For active severe weather, follow the National Weather Service and your local emergency management agency — not SevereWX.
Informational Use Only
SevereWX provides AI-generated severe weather forecasts for informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this site constitutes official weather guidance, emergency management advice, or professional meteorological consulting. Forecasts are generated by large language model (AI) software and may contain errors, omissions, or significant inaccuracies.
Not a Substitute for Official Sources
SevereWX is not affiliated with the National Weather Service (NWS), the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), NOAA, or any government emergency management agency. Our forecasts do not replace official NWS watches, warnings, or advisories. Always monitor your local NWS office, NOAA Weather Radio, and official emergency management channels — especially during active severe weather events. When in doubt, act on official guidance, not ours.
No Liability for Decisions Made
You assume all risk for any actions taken or not taken in reliance on information provided by SevereWX. SevereWX, its owners, operators, contributors, and service providers are not liable for any loss, injury, death, property damage, or other harm arising from your use of or reliance on this service, even if advised of the possibility of such harm. This includes but is not limited to: evacuation decisions, shelter-in-place decisions, travel decisions, and emergency preparedness actions.
AI-Generated Content
Forecast analyses, threat summaries, and blog posts on SevereWX are generated by AI language models (currently Gemini by Google) using weather model data from NOAA's HRRR and GFS models, the European ECMWF model, SPC categorical outlooks, and NWS Area Forecast Discussions. AI-generated content can misinterpret meteorological data, produce confident-sounding but incorrect conclusions, and fail to account for rapidly changing conditions. AI forecasts are most useful as a supplement to — never a replacement for — official sources.
Data Accuracy and Availability
Forecast data is sourced from publicly available numerical weather prediction models and federal government data feeds. SevereWX makes no guarantee that data is current, complete, or free from processing errors. Weather model data has inherent uncertainty that increases with forecast range. Day 1 forecasts are more reliable than Days 2 and 3, and the Days 4-7 extended outlook is less certain still. Service interruptions, ingestion delays, or model failures can result in outdated or missing forecasts.
Emergency Situations
SevereWX is not an emergency service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For life-safety decisions during severe weather, rely only on the National Weather Service, your local emergency management agency, and NOAA Weather Radio. Do not wait for SevereWX to update before taking shelter during an active tornado warning or other life-threatening weather event.
